Hobson & Porter has beaten off stiff competition to win a prestigious award for safety, winning the ARCO Shield for most improved safety procedures at the Humberside Occupational Health and Safety Group Awards Ceremony.
The award is given annually by leading safety equipment suppliers ARCO to organisations that have achieved the most significant upgrades to their safety procedures. Previous winners include BAe Systems, BP and the University of Hull. Winning the Shield was the result of a sustained period of investment in Hobson & Porter's site safety procedures, which saw a reduction in their accident rate of 35% on the previous year's figures.
Hobson and Porter's submission, entitled Accident Investigation was given to site managers in November 2007. The 3 hour presentation included a question and answer session and a video presentation, and gave the site managers practical advice on accident investigation procedures, the legal context, and actions to prevent reoccurrence.
The award was presented by Linda Ellis, President of Humberside Occupational Health & Safety and General Manager of local training provider HOTA, and was collected by Hobson & Porter's Quality & Safety Manager Dave Carrick. The awards were held at Hull's Country Park Inn on 23rd May. Hobson & Porter was one of five local companies shortlisted for the award.
