Anlaby Acre Heads after the floods
Sir Michael tours the completed school
Flood victims have been helping to make the region's voice heard at the highest level. Sir Michael Pitt, chairman of the national Flooding Lessons Learned Review, visited the area to see first-hand the impact of this summer's flooding.
The review is tasked with reducing the risk of flooding and improving emergency response.
Sir Michael is hoping to gain further insight into the problems and ongoing impact of flooding in the area. He met East Riding councillors and officers, as well as residents who had been affected. He also toured Anlaby Acre Heads Primary School in Welbourn Walk to find out how the school recovered. Hobson & Porterâ??s Minor works Division has just completed the flood repair works to the school, including new flooring and doors throughout.
Sir Michael said: "It is very valuable to be able to talk to people who have been affected and learn what we can to help others in the futureâ?
