Safety First - Again!
Hobson & Porter continues to dominate in the Hull Building Safety Group's annual awards. Dave Taylor won the Gold Award, the second time he has come out on top of the region's site managers. Equally impressive, Hobson & Porter has six site managers in the top ten places. In the previous year Hobson & Porter had filled 11 out of the first 18 places, with the top three managers.
Hobson & Porter's Safety Manager Dave Carrick sees these results as another sign that the company's proactive approach to safety is making a real difference. "Safety is our licence to operate, and regular face to face visits with site managers has certainly helped us to focus on improving safety standards on site".
HBSG is a company set up by a number of contractors and housebuilders in the Hull and East Riding area. Its aim is to improve the safety performance of contractors in the region. Its members include Hobson & Porter and other well known local contractors. The Group employs a full time Safety Officer who visits sites and scores performance against a range of criteria. The first visit to each site is made by appointment and further visits are unannounced. The Safety Officer also distributes Health & Safety information to member companies on a regular basis. A list of the top 50 site managers is released at the end of the year.
