Hobson & Porter, Innovation based on tradition

This campus is at the heart of a vibrant community and serves the west of Hull with a modern 21st century learning environment that acts as a symbol for the college's excellence and promotes an environment of learning to the wider local community.

The newly completed Ash Building comprises a two storey building for sciences, arts, humanities, IT and modern languages. It was delivered on time and on budget, with maximum customer satisfaction scores.

Hobson & Porter worked with its team of consultants to identify a number of more cost effective design solutions. By redesigning the foundations and structure we saved the client around £250,000. The client's Resources Director stated that "at first I didn't see value engineering as being that important, but when I realized how much money I was saving, it became very important, because I could spend it on things that were of direct benefit to the pupils". The pupils will get a better end product, and this will make it more sustainable through increased customer satisfaction.
